This recipe is for healthy chocolate banana ice cream. Well, the ice cream part is really pseudo ice cream, but blending the frozen banana with a food processor gives a very ice cream like texture. This recipe is naturally sugar-free. It is my go-to quick recipe to fill my chocolate craving while still maintaining my sugar-free diet. My children also like this healthy ice cream for breakfast or snack time.

How to Make Healthy Chocolate Banana Ice Cream
Step 1: Freeze your bananas
Peel and freeze your bananas. I keep a regular stock of frozen bananas for making this recipe or fruit smoothies anytime.
Step 2: Pull out your food processor
You will need a food processor to make this recipe work. A blender just will not give you the same results. I bought this mini one from Amazon and have been really happy with the results. It is easy to use and clean and makes a small batch of ice cream. You can make a single recipe of ice cream in this food processor or increase the recipe to 1 1/2 ingredients. I did try doubling the recipe and it over filled this little food processor.
Step 3: Prepare the ingredients
- 1 frozen banana, sliced into one inch chunks
- 2 Tablespoons of plain yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking cocoa
- 1/4 of an avocado (optional)*
The avocado does slightly change the texture of the end result. I prefer the ice cream without the avocado, but it is a good way to sneak in some extra nutrition to your diet. I also like to double the chocolate when I make this recipe for myself.
Step: 4: Blend ingredients
Place your ingredients in the food processor. Put the lid on and plug in the machine. Push the top button to blend.
Keep blending until the the mixture is completely smooth without any chunks of banana. Serve and enjoy!
